Does that mean Emma is really a human, or might she be a mermaid? Galen is the prince of the Syrena and he could be bossy at times. Emma is the main character and when she and Galen (literally) collides which each other at the beach, they both sense something special between them which is unusual because only mermaids could sense one another. The writing style was kind of hard to get used to at first because it switches perspectives, but at the same time it also switches from 1st person point of view (Emma’s) to 3rd person point of view (Galen’s).The characters in this book are funny, but at times there are some inconsistencies in how they act. The first chapter got me hooked on right away. I also like how they could sense other mermaids, which plays a big factor in the story. I love how the Syrenas could change from a mermaid to a human, but as a result they would age faster. I have never read a mermaid book before (except The Little Mermaid) so it was a really fresh read for me. This book isn’t a retelling of Greek mythology as I first thought it would be it is about Syrenas a.k.a mermaids. It is not a heavy fantasy book and it only took me 2 days to read it. ORIGINAL REVIEW AT: LITTLE BOOK STAR Of Poseidon is an enjoyable and light read. But otherwise I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one. It was hinted at quite a bit and it isn't hard to gather what it is from this, although the characters don't seem to get it for awhile. The one thing that I didn't care for was that the big reveal at the end wasn't really a surprise. And during this story they seem to be linked in a way that is not normal for either culture. Galen then follows her home in an effort to see if she is one of the Syrena, which are an equivalent to merpeople although they don't like to be called that. They first meet on a beach in Florida when Emma trips and runs smack into Galen's chest while she is on vacation with her best friend and her friend's family.
The chapters of the book alternate between these two characters point of view.
It starts out with two main characters, Galen who is a prince of Triton, and Emma who is seemingly a normal human girl. This book was so good that I finished it in one night, in one sitting.
